Eravikulam National Park: The Best Place to Visit in Kerala India

Eravikulam nationwide park is extended over a broad place of 97 sq km along the crest of ‘Western Ghats’ in the high places of Idukki area. Most of the places of the national park of Eravikulam are consistent with mountain level. So, you can see only great moving hills here. The highest Anamudi peak inside Eravikulam national park is 2690 meter high. The jungles you see here is generally known as ‘shoals’ – time tested exotic and sub exotic wet broadleaf forest. You can identify small sources here, which later combine to form tributaries to Periyar and Chalakudy waterways. Lakkom falls is located in this area.

In 1975 Eravikulam was announced as a wildlife sanctuary and then in 1978 it was given the status of a National recreation place. The main purpose behind this was to secure the unusual Nilgiri Tahr and Hemitragus Hylocrious, which are common here. Now the national park is home to numerous types of plants and creatures.

The nationwide recreation place is separated into three places - the core place, the buffer place and the Munnar sightseeing places. In which, the Rajamalai is known to be the travel and leisure place of the recreation place. Here, the visitors are permitted to travel straight into the forest to discover the beauty of the surroundings around. Private automobiles are prohibited here. Only few small automobiles are permitted in order to control the environment contamination. The forest department organizes the visits.

The recreation place has a collection of different unknown plants. You will discover here ejaculation of grasslands. The best place to see in Munnar is variety of orchid flowers, which is one of the attractions of this place. Apart from Nilgiri Tahr, one can discover around 26 different types of animals at this recreation place. A number of elephant, langur and marten can be found here. About 120 types of birds like black and orange, flycatcher, Nilgiri pipit, Nilgiri timber bird, white bellied shortwing and Kerala laughing thrust can be identified at Eravikulam National Park.
